The fall of Bookshops

Bookshops. My favourite place to be. Although there is a definite lack of them in my area, it is my version solace. There is one book cafe in the city which is great, what more could you want than a cup of coffee or tea with a good book. But sadly it has closed down.

The essential high street bookshop is usually just a WHSmith now. There has been a downfall in the number of bookshops, definitely. Although this is expected with the rise in ebooks, it still a sad event. I’ve seen how there are hardly any bookshops left. I would love to say that it’s possible to save them but it’s probably impossible, which is quite depressing; it has been a long time since I’ve seen a thriving independently owned bookstore, in my area anyway.
