With high-stakes action and a smart, resourceful heroine, Cinder is a Cinderella retelling that is at once classic and strikingly original.

Review: I have read this book before but I finally decided to read the full series!! I had put it off for a while but I shall wait no longer!! This book is brilliant, fantastic, extraordinary and all other synonyms of amazing! The Cinderella story is my favourite storyline of all time and although I don’t read many dystopian books, the dystopian twist on this story was just… phenomenal!

The book starts with an orphaned cyborg, Cinder. A second class citizen due to the fact that she is cyborg, she is mistreated by her adoptive mother and sister. Her adoptive father who decided to adopt Cinder died. Cinder, however, is a renowned mechanic in the city of New Beijing and is sought out by the Prince Kaito to fix his android.

I’ll not include any spoilers but my lawwd this book was just *chef kiss* so exciting and really a whirlwind of twists and turns! Although, it was easy to follow especially by the fact it was easy to discern when told by different points of view. It wasn’t too convoluted of a storyline but it was still action-packed!

I loved Cinder’s character, she is a strong woman who speaks her mind. She is mistreated and you can sympathise with her, some sections of this book I was just feeling sorry for Cinder. She’s a cyborg, abused and scared of the fact that the Prince may find out that she is a cyborg.

This book also includes how there is a terrible disease sweeping across the earth. And also the Prince is being pushed towards marrying Queen Levana of Lunar (The moon colonies) as there is a threat of war. We feel like the Prince Kaito is stuck in an untenable situation and it’s difficult for him to decide whether he should or not as Levana is evil, like murder her own family evil.

This book does end on a cliffhanger for the next book ‘Scarlet’. And honestly, I don’t know how I went so long wondering about what happened next!! This book is so dramatic, romantic, tragic story and is definitely 5/5 stars!
